The Safeguarding Board in Kirklees are there to prevent abuse, and/or support individuals who may be experiencing abuse and/or neglect. Kirklees has the Adult Safeguarding Board for anyone over 18 and the Children’s Safeguarding Board for those under 18.
If you suspect, or know, that an individual is experiencing abuse or neglect then you can make a referral to the Safeguarding Board so that they can then investigate further and provide support to the individual(s) as needed.
If you believe that an individual is in immediate danger, or if you are unsure, then you should call 999 and alert the police.

Adult Safeguarding
A vulnerable adult at risk is anyone aged 18 and over who is not able to care for or protect themselves from harm or exploitation. It might be because of mental health, disability, age or illness.
If an adult is in danger first ensure the individual is safe. Call the emergency services if immediate help is needed.

Children’s Safeguarding
Children’s Safeguarding covers any young person from birth up to the age of 17.
If you feel that a child is in immediate danger you should call 999.
If you hear or see something that makes you suspect a child is being abused you should report it to:
