We are Kirklees Employment Service, the service is part of the national mental health charity Waythrough, which was formed in 2024 following a merger between Richmond Fellowship and Humankind.

We are funded locally by Kirklees Council.

Our aim is to support individuals to achieve their vocational goals and to help improve their well-being and confidence.

To access our support you must live in the Kirklees area and have lived experience of mental ill health, whether this be medically diagnosed or self-diagnosed.

You must also be 18 or over.

We have 3 pathways of support you can choose from.

Pathway one is for anyone who wants to get into employment, education, training or volunteering within six months of starting with the service.

This pathway is also for anyone who is in work and needs retention support or support to change jobs.

On this pathway you will be assigned a 1-2-1 advisor who will work with you usually around once per fortnight, in a mixture of in person, over the phone, e-mail and video call sessions to help you work towards your goals.

We help identify which areas you struggle with and then support you to build up your skills, confidence and independence in overcoming these challenges through person centred guidance.

Support on this pathway is given for six months.

You will also have access to our peer support workshops to compliment what you are doing with your advisor and access to all our website resources.

Pathway 2.

This is for anyone who would prefer to focus on their general well-being and confidence to begin with, without that focus of the 1-2-1 sessions.

This pathway gives you access to all our peer workshops which is designed to help you build an awareness and understanding of things which may affect you and develop the tools to help you cope with these.

Our Peer Support Coordinator leads small, informal groups of peers who have lived experience.

Workshops are delivered in both in person and online formats, and we also have them available as digital workbooks on our website.

If you use Pathway 2 you can then refer across to Pathway One at any time you feel ready to focus on these vocational goals.

Pathway 3 is our website and that is our self -led pathway.

It gives you access to the website resources and has all tools around employability, retention, peer support including our digital workbooks and signposting to local and national support services for a wide range of topics.

No referral is required, and you can work through everything at your own pace.

You can refer onto pathway one or two at any point should you feel the need for more focused support.
